Real estate agents often have just a few lines of space to squeeze in every last detail of a home, so over the years, they’ve developed a whole shorthand to keep their word count down.
A seasoned agent could probably read an entire listing written in acronyms alone — but for buyers, those letters can be a little trickier to decode.
Some are easy enough to figure out… BR is bedroom, LR is living room, FP stands for fireplace. But others? Not so obvious to the untrained eye.
Take this 10-question quiz to test your real estate abbreviation IQ and see how fluent you are in Realtor-ese:
9–10 correct: You’re either a real estate agent… or just really addicted to surfing listings.
6–8 correct: Nice work! Either you’re super sharp—or got your hands on a secret decoder ring.
3–5 correct: Not bad for someone who isn’t in the biz. You’ve clearly browsed a listing or two.
0–2 correct: Don’t sweat it! Even agents have a tough time when they first start out!
